Most frames can be made up as prescription sunglasses, in single vision or progressive lenses, with tints, polarization or mirror coatings. You get clear vision and sun protection without clip-ons.
UV protection
Dark doesn'tmean protected.
Ultraviolet (UV) light can harm the eyes and the delicate skin around them over time. How dark a lens looks tells you nothing about its UV protection. A dark lens without UV filtering can even let more UV in, because your pupils widen behind it.
- Look for lenses labelled 100% UV protection or UV400.
- Polarization reduces glare; it isn't the same thing as UV protection.
- Larger or wraparound frames block more light from the sides.
- Children's eyes need sun protection too.
